Has anyone heard of the latest requirements for loan processor's being licensed? I have spoken to different schools, processor's and State officials and we are getting diverse answers. Most recently, I have heard that as of the first of the year all loan originator's and processor's will have to obtain their Broker's license. Thank you for anything that you can share. Denise

I have over 5 years of mortgage processing experience; however, I have been unemployed since 9/07 and have recently accepted a contract processing position for a broker. I am trying to get set up out of my home and am having quite a bit of difficulty. Is there any training program that would be willing to come in home to help you get started. I have never processed FHA or VA loans before either.

I am also working with a broker who is a little green and I think is doing things backwards. The documentation that he provides me is a handwritten 1003 (not always complete) and signed disclosures. He is not providing me with any type of Automated Underwriting to ensure that the loan has qualified. This just seems backward to me, but he said he has been doing things like this for the past year. He would like me to run the AU as well as pull the credit. Could anyone offer an opinion on this?

Thanks for any help
Deb

I put this info in on page 2 under rental income, but Point keeps deleting it if I move to anothe page in the file. What am I doing wrong???? Should this info be put into the REO section? If I do, so i mark this property as a rental since this is the also the borrowers primary home? Or am i right to put it on page 2 as rental income? If I put it in the REO as rental, it is showing negative rent at -$4320 and that is not correct, they have positive of net rent of $180....what am i doing wrong???

I am curious to hear how contractor processors have been affected by the recent and ever changing regulations being placed upon Mortgage Brokers. Either by recently passed legislation or up and coming legislation. What are your brokers saying? Will they be able to remain in business? Have any of you already lost Brokers due to new legislation? How is this affecting your contract processing business? If you are a new contract processor, getting the smaller brokers first is sometimes easier until you've got all your kinks worked out. I'm also wondering what impact legislation has had on new contract processors obtaining business.

Here is an article I was reading today:

Mortgage Brokers May Be Doomed - If Pending Legislation Passes...(copy and paste the article below)

http://originatortimes.com/content/templates/standard.aspx?articleid=2594&zoneid=1

Thanks!

Terri

I recently was offered a contract loan processing job by mortgage brokerage who found my name through this website. My job was to represent this company by submitting completed loan packages to Mtg. Lenders/Banks. This company would do all the "leg work" from India. The loan processors there would gather all income documentation and other necessary documents from the borrower residing in the US and they would proceed to e mail completed package to me, here in the States. I was confused. I proceeded to ask if this was even in compliance and question document integrity I would be getting electronically. They proceeded to tell me this was not my concern. Adding, They all do it... It is not a secret that Bank of America, Fnma, Fhlmc are all operating from India. I proceeded to ask, If everything is being done in India, What do you need me for? He answered "Quality Control". I am leaning more towards leaving me to take the liability for them as they are out of our Jurisdiction. It is no wonder we cannot find a decent paying job here at home. Our jobs are in India.
