I am looking to upgrade my mortgage processing software and wanted to know everyone's thoughts on software... specifically Encompass vs. Calyx Point. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have used Point for the last 3.5 yrs. I bought Encompass and was going to switch. I used it for the 30 days and returned it. It is just me in the office. I think Encompass would work well if you have a large office with several loan officer and processor that all use Encompass to keep everyone on the same page. I felt Encompass was very overwhelming and alot to learn. There is a ton of training and seminars you can go to. All the LOs I contract process for use Point. So I choose to stay with it.

I used Encompass about 5 years ago for a particular lender I worked for & I guess it did not seem too hard because I had to learn it & I did not know any other programs. However, over the last 3 years working for a broker I have become very familiar with Point & all the LOs I work with use it also. I would say to you to probably go with what the majority of your LOs are comfortable with as well as what you will need the least amount of training in...what program do you feel more comfortable using? You are the one who will have to process with it & for me I need to keep my training on lender products/programs...not my computer program. Also, when you subscribe to Point you get all their upgrades/updates at no additional charge for your subscription period & I have had a great experience with them whenever I have to call customer service. Best of Luck to you!

I think Encompass is your best investment because of the technology it offers. You will find most brokers and lenders switching to Encompass because of the paperless options it offers. If you are going to invest in a software program, it makes the most sense to go right to the program that is most advanced so that you don't end up needing to upgrade to it later on anyway.

I agree though, it can be absolutely overwhelming and a lot to learn so it's something you need to do in steps. Just focus on setting up and learning the processing parts of Encompass- you don't need to worry about the marketing campaign manager part, or any of the originator bells and whistles. Just focus on learning how to use it to help you process as efficiently as possible.

Our company has used Genesis, Calyx and Encompass. We are currently phasing out Genesis and Point. Most branches on Encompass are going completely paperless- that is the best feature.

My favorite software of all happens to be Genesis but between Point & Encompass, I would say Point.
