Sarasota Housing Authority Returns from Control by the FHA

After three years under federal receivership, the Sarasota, FL Housing Authority (SHA) has returned to local control. According to an article by HUD, the change took place over a ceremony at City Hall with HUD officials and the Mayor of Sarasota. In 2005, HUD took over SHA because of large scale mismanagement and financial issues. As a result, strides were made in terms of structural changes and much needed improvements to public housing.
